CARLO SCARPA IN MOSTRA A CASTELVECCHIO
VETRI E DISEGNI DI CARLO SCARPA IN MOSTRA A CASTELVECCHIO nella sala Boggian al Museo di Castelvecchio, la mostra ‘Carlo Scarpa. Vetri e Disegni. 1925-1931’, appuntamento autunnale dei Musei Civici di Verona. Dedicata al celebre architetto veneziano e alla produzione della vetreria M.V.M. Cappellin & C., l’esposizione sarà visitabile fino al 29 marzo 2021.

In mostra 69 vetri provenienti da collezioni pubbliche e private, accostati a 52 disegni realizzati per la vetreria negli anni tra il 1925 e il 1931 e corredati da una selezione di 23 fotografie d’epoca. Tutte opere degli anni giovanili dell’architetto, in
esposizione proprio all’interno di Castelvecchio che, ancora oggi, rappresenta uno dei suoi magistrali esempi di restauro e allestimento museografico - (immagini opere in mostra). Un’esposizione coinvolgente, che nasce della collaborazione tra il Comune di Verona con Le Stanze Del Vetro e Pentagram Stiftung ed è a cura di Marino Barovier, tra i più reputati esperti dell’arte vetraria muranese, insieme ad Alba Di Lieto e Ketty Bertolaso della Direzione dei Civici Musei del Comune di Verona. La mostra è stata presentata oggi, in Municipio, dall’assessore alla Cultura Francesca Briani insieme alla direttrice dei Musei Civici Veronesi Francesca Rossi e ai curatori Marino Barovier e Alba Di Lieto.
Presente in mostra anche il figlio dell'artista, Tobia Scarpa. “Un’esposizione di particolare fascino – sottolinea l’assessore Briani – che trae spunto e approfondisce ulteriormente la mostra scarpiana realizzata a Venezia da Barovier, tra la fine del 2018 e l’inizio del 2019. Un’opportunità interessante per vedere alcune delle più importanti realizzazioni della produzione vetraria del giovane Carlo Scarpa, al tempo designer e futuro promettente architetto, studente dell’Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia. Vetri e disegni che permettono, inoltre, di valorizzare l’attività dell’Archivio digitale Carlo Scarpa, di cui il museo di Castelvecchio è custode, offrendo la possibilità di ammirare opere di design di altissimo livello e di grande bellezza”.
“La mostra – spiega Rossi – è una rara occasione per vedere una parte della raccolta grafica e fotografica della vetreria Cappellin, conservata nell’Archivio Carlo Scarpa di Verona, insieme alla collezione dei disegni del restauro e allestimento del Museo di Castelvecchio. Una tappa che si collega ad una precisa linea espositiva dedicata al grande architetto veneziano e a un percorso di valorizzazione dell’arte vetraria avviato, nel 1960, da Licisco Magagnato con la mostra ‘Vetri di Murano 1860-1960’, allestita dallo stesso Scarpa. In quell’occasione, l’architetto progettò alcune vetrine ora restaurate e che sono state riutilizzate in occasione dell’allestimento di questa mostra”. “Ricerca estrema dello sperimentare, per ricreare con materiali nuovi opere che hanno ridefinito il concetto di design del vetro – dichiara Barovier –. Questo è stato Scarpa.
Studioso e creatore al tempo stesso. Con il suo lavoro è riuscito a generare opere considerate al tempo impossibili, apportando una rivoluzione nello studio e lavorazione del vetro”. L’esplorazione proposta in mostra, che presenta gli esordi “dell’irregolare” e “abilissimo” Carlo Scarpa, costituisce un ritorno alle origini, una raro confronto tra la creazione finale, in questo caso la selezione dei vetri esposti, i disegni originali e la documentazione fotografica d’epoca. Negli ultimi anni altre due mostre sono testimonianza del costante interesse per l’attività artistica legata al vetro, Vinicio Vianello: il design del Vetro (2007) e Giorgio Vigna. Stati Naturali (2013). In quest’ultima esposizione l’artista ha saputo creare un intenso e serrato dialogo tra le proprie opere, l’arte antica e l’architettura del celebre complesso museale scarpiano.
L’Archivio Carlo Scarpa di Verona, che ha sede al Museo di Castelvecchio, conserva, insieme alla raccolta grafica sul restauro di Castelvecchio, la collezione dei disegni e delle fotografie relative ai vetri di Cappellin. Acquisita nel 2004 nell’ambito delle iniziative promosse dal Comitato Paritetico Carlo Scarpa (2002-2013) Stato - Regione del Veneto, grazie ad Aldo Businaro, l’importante raccolta venne interamente affidata dalla Regione del Veneto all’archivio scarpiano veronese istituzionalizzato in quegli stessi anni.
in concomitanza con l’apertura al pubblico, prende avvio anche un percorso di iniziative – in collaborazione con realtà private e pubbliche – che attinge ispirazione dal mondo antico come la mostra Vetri Romani al Matr - Museo Archeologico al Teatro Romano, a cura di Margherita Bolla e, passando da Carlo Scarpa, arriva al contemporaneo. In particolare, domenica, alle ore 11, è in programma una visita guidata gratuita della mostra. Inoltre, martedì 26 novembre, alle ore 17.30, al Museo di Castelvecchio, è in programma l’incontro ‘Scarpa e il vetro, 1925-1931. Come la modernità può rinnovare la tradizione’. GLASSES AND DRAWINGS OF CARLO SCARPA ON EXHIBITION IN CASTELVECCHIO in the Boggian room at the Museum of Castelvecchio, the exhibition ‘Carlo Scarpa. An enthralling exhibition, born of the collaboration between the Municipality of Verona with Le Stanze Del Vetro and Pentagram Stiftung and is curated by Marino Barovier, one of the most reputed experts of Murano glass art, together with Alba Di Lieto and Ketty Bertolaso of Directorate of the Civic Museums of the Municipality of Verona. A stage that is connected to a precise exhibition line dedicated to the great Venetian architect and to a process of valorization of the glass art started, in 1960, by Licisco Magagnato with the exhibition ‘Vetri di Murano 1860-1960 ', set up by Scarpa himself. In the last few years, two other exhibitions are testimony to the constant interest in artistic activity linked to glass, Vinicio Vianello: the design of Glass (2007) and Giorgio Vigna. Natural States (2013). In this last exhibition the artist was able to create an intense and close dialogue between his works, the ancient art and the architecture of the famous Scarpa museum complex.
The Carlo Scarpa Archive of Verona, which is housed in the Castelvecchio Museum, preserves, together with the graphic collection on the restoration of Castelvecchio, the collection of drawings and photographs relating to Cappellin glass.
